Privacy Policy

You can use GenerateYourCharacter without an account. If you stay signed out, generated and saved characters remain in your browser on that device only.

Who is responsible

This service is operated by Tomáš Kautský, based in the Czech Republic. Contact for privacy requests: [email protected].

Optional accounts and sign-in

If you choose to sign in, authentication is provided by Google or Discord. We do not receive or store your Google or Discord password.

From Google Sign-In we typically receive your Google account name, email address, and profile picture, plus a provider account identifier used to recognize your GenerateYourCharacter account.

From Discord we typically receive your Discord user id, username, and avatar. An email address is included when Discord provides one for that account; some Discord accounts have no email, in which case we store only the Discord identity needed to keep you signed in.

We store those account identifiers and profile fields needed to operate the account, and we keep authentication sessions in cookies so you can remain signed in. Revoking GenerateYourCharacter's access inside Google or Discord stops future sign-ins through that provider; it does not by itself delete your GenerateYourCharacter library or account. Use in-product account deletion (below) to wipe GYC-held data.

Private cloud library

Characters you save while signed in are stored in our Cloudflare D1 database so your library can sync across your devices. A saved character may include its name, generated personality profile, appearance fields, your private note, timestamps, and sync metadata. Your signed-in library is private to your account.

Connection and hosting data

When you visit the site, Cloudflare processes technical connection information such as your IP address, browser or request information, and timestamps as needed to deliver and protect the site.

ChatGPT and Claude plugin

GenerateYourCharacter also runs as a plugin in ChatGPT and as a connector in Claude. You don't need a GenerateYourCharacter account or a linked account to use it. When the assistant uses the plugin, it sends us a request with the options for the character, such as gender, setting, age or a short role like "villain", and, with some requests, a character the plugin created earlier in the chat. We do not receive your full conversation or your OpenAI or Anthropic login details. The plugin does not ask for personal information, but if your request mentions a real person, the assistant may pass that on.

Requests from ChatGPT also include your IP address and an OpenAI user ID that does not contain your name or email address. Requests from Claude come from Anthropic's servers. Cloudflare, which hosts the plugin, uses these details to process the request. We keep no logs of plugin requests, and the plugin stores no copy of the request or of the character it returns. You can disconnect the plugin at any time in the ChatGPT or Claude settings. OpenAI and Anthropic process your conversation, including the characters the plugin returns, under their own privacy terms.

Why we process this data

We process account and library data to handle sign-in, sync, export, and deletion, as part of the service you request when you create an account. We process plugin requests only to answer them, as part of the service you ask for through ChatGPT or Claude. Both are necessary to perform our contract with you. We also process limited security and abuse-prevention data based on our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information. We do not use private character content for advertising, profiling, or AI training.

Local browser storage

The site may save generator drafts, settings, and saved characters in your browser so your work persists between visits. Guest browser data stays on that device until you clear site data.

How long we keep data

We keep your account profile fields and cloud library for as long as your account remains open. After you delete your account, active cloud data is deleted and backup copies are rotated out within 30 days, except where longer retention is required by law. Guest browser data is not part of the cloud account.

Signed-in users can download their cloud library as JSON and can permanently delete their account from the product.

Your rights

Where applicable law gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, or portability beyond the in-product export/delete controls, contact [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the Czech data protection authority (ÚOOÚ) at uoou.cz.

Who helps us run the service

The site and account API are hosted by Cloudflare (including Cloudflare Workers and D1). Processing may occur in Cloudflare's global network. Cloudflare may process data outside the European Economic Area. For those transfers, Cloudflare's data processing addendum includes the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. When you sign in with Google or Discord, that company processes your sign-in data under its own privacy policy.

We use HTTPS for data in transit and limit account APIs to the signed-in owner's session.

Children

GenerateYourCharacter accounts are not offered to children under 16. That is our product rule for accounts. You can still use the tool without an account.

Cookies and analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for anonymous visitor statistics. That analytics product does not use cookies for analytics and is not used to identify individual visitors. Account sessions use cookies required to keep you signed in.

Changes

If we make material changes to how we use Google or Discord account data, or other material changes to this notice, we will update this page and provide notice before the new uses take effect.
