Thomas Hales is a fiction writer who built the Generate Your Character tool. He wanted one place to combine common personality systems for characters — 16-type, the Enneagram, the Big Five, attachment patterns, defense mechanisms, thinking biases, stress responses, and values.
The result is a free, browser-based generator that runs entirely client-side. No accounts, no AI calls, no servers. Every profile is produced by deterministic, randomised logic, which means writers can trust the output is repeatable, inspectable, and private, and can copy it straight into their notes, worldbuilding documents, or character sheets.
Thomas writes fiction and builds small tools for writers. He is interested in how personality systems overlap and contradict each other, and how those tensions map onto believable characters rather than tidy abstractions.
What Thomas built
The Generate Your Character tool builds a full character profile from one click: 16-type personality, Enneagram with wing, Big Five scores, attachment style, defense mechanism, thinking bias, communication style, stress response, values, and more. Writers can lock the parts they like and reroll the rest.
